<div itemprop="description">Conrad &ldquo;Joe&rdquo; Mercier passed away in his sleep on December 31st at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. He was 73. Joe was born in St. John&rsquo;s, Antigua on May 8th, 1942 but spent most of his professional life teaching English Literature and Language at Presentation College in San Fernando, Trinidad. Joe married Florence Raghunanan on August 17, 1968 in New York before settling in San Fernando, Trinidad where they raised their three children, Aubrey, Marcelle and Duane. In 2011 Joe and Florence migrated to Canada where they joined their children. Joe is survived by his wife Florence, children, Aubrey, Marcelle and Duane, son-in-law, Ron, daughters-in-law, Suzette and Sharon and grandchildren, Ashleigh and Julian and his sisters Edris Bird and Edith Mercier and many nieces and nephews. Joe is predeceased by his sisters Vilma Morrissey, Pam Mercier and Coralie Batie, his brothers, Morris Erskine, Dalmar Mercier, Douglas Mercier and Hubert Mercier. Visitation will be held at McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Rd, Ajax Ontario, Canada at 10:00 AM on January 14, 2016 with the funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery, 1757 Church Street North, Ajax, Ontario, Canada. The family will host a reception at 2:00 PM at the McEachnie Family Centre, 20 Church Street North, Ajax, Ontario, Canada (adjacent to the Funeral Home) where friends and relatives may share fond memories. If desired, memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the National Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation via their Online Donations form.
