DANIEL HAZE
The success of Daniel’s life, no matter how short or long, was never going to be about money. It was about people, who he loved and who loved
him. Daniel gave love and we all relished in it. Daniel’s pure child innocence was combined with an extraordinary wisdom. He just always seemed
to know that the key to life was kindness, joy and pureness of heart. With Daniel there was no holding back affection- I’m sure he never once
withheld his affection. He knew politeness was right, he knew family was everything and he knew the POWER OF A GOOD HUG.
Daniel was a quiet soul and very soft spoken, but Daniel communicated well. Sometimes it would be a 'THUMBS UP' that he was good or that
sweet way he would nod and smile. Just because Daniel was quiet didn’t mean he wouldn’t get heard if he had something to say. If Daniel wasn’t
so thrilled about something you would hear “ sorry but” or “no offence but ...". If Dan was on the phone and the call was ending, he would
always do a little wave; even though his mom told him they couldn’t see him ... it didn’t matter he would still wave every time!
Daniel had a few favourite things. He liked vanilla ice cream or caramel snapping turtles; mashed potatoes and his mom’s homemade pizza. He
loved taking after dinner walks, he loved tobogganing and couldn’t wait for the first sign of snow.Daniel loved swimming but was slightly annoyed
that his new leg wouldn’t drain quickly enough. A few of the more well-known likes of Daniel are, of course GAMING, and going along with that
was his love of a 'Youtuber' named Chuggaconroy. Daniel would say that Chuggaconroy was a big gaming inspiration to him. Meeting Chuggaconroy
was probably one of Daniel’s biggest dreams. When Chuggaconroy heard about Daniel's wish, he contacted Daniel, and even though he couldn’t
make it in person, Chuggaconroy would play for hours with Daniel online and speak to him on Skype. On the first day he gamed with Chuggaconroy, which lasted for about four hours, Dan said, “ It was the best day ever!"
Dan was so inspired by Chuggaconroy, and dreamed also of being a famous 'Youtuber'. So here is what Daniel wrote as his YouTube Channel BIO:
“My hopes of becoming a famous youtuber will take a while, but I’ll just be happy to reach 1000 subs. This channel focuses on gaming, more
specifically Team Fortress 2, Mario Kart and Pokemon. I hope I can provide as much content as I can and provide a good laugh or two. My name
is DBOLT2100, and have a shocking day.”
Daniel also loved going to the movies and was excited that Angry Birds was going to be coming out soon, however he was concerned he might
not be able to go to the theatre to see it because he was becoming weaker. This became a bit of a mission to get Daniel to see this movie. Through
his dedicated cousins on the Saturday before Daniel passed, an executive from the movie company flew from Los Angeles and gave Daniel a private
screening at home. That brought much joy to Daniel!
Another of Daniel’s favourite things was EB Games. He could spend hours in there with Jericho and Ted and he dreamed of one day working there.
That would have been Dan’s dream job, but you had to be 18 years old to work there. Happily that dream came true when EB Games hired Daniel
for a day.
Another thing Daniel loved was playing baseball, and he joined a team last summer. This led to Daniel meeting a great new friend, Dion. Dion
uplifted Daniel on many a tough day and Daniel thought of him as a brother.
Daniel also loved Pokemon and Pokemon wouldn’t be the same if he wasn’t’ playing with his long-time best friend, Ellen. Daniel looked forward
to their Pokemon ambitions. He many times would comment, that it was always a good day if it was a day Ellen visited.
Daniel had another best friend who spent many fun hours playing with Daniel over the years, and that was Reilly. Even though Reilly moved away
before Daniel became sick, Daniel often spoke of Reilly and was glad when Reilly was able to come for a visit in April.
Daniel loved his time at the cottage, one of the main reasons was because it was a gathering place for many of his cousins and Daniel loved his
cousins. Daniel loved bogey boarding and just hanging with his big extended family. But even at the cottage Daniel loved his quiet time and
gaming indoors.
One special cousin was Jack. Daniel and Jack spent many hours together during Daniels treatments or following surgeries. Sometimes they’d sit
quietly but as soon as Dan was able they’d game. AND DAN WAS GOOD! Even at Dan’s weakest Jack would say, "DAN KICKED MY BUTT!!".
Daniel loved his dog, Scamp, his dad and his mom, whose unwavering strength and love, Daniel relied on. But who Daniel loved most of all was
his protective big sister, Samantha. During good times and during really hard times, the first thing Daniel would say is “I need my Sam”. Daniel
and Samantha were never far apart. There were each other’s biggest supporters and protectors. He loved Sam... brother and sister melded
together – hearts joined forever by one of Daniel's biggest Hugs.
Daniel recently asked if he could work at EB Games in Heaven. So here’s to you, Daniel….That you are healthy, standing tall and working the
counter of the Biggest EB Games in Heaven.
We all love you will miss you but you are with us forever.
