Freeman Currie
August 4, 1943 - February 18, 2016
Surrounded by loved ones, Freeman Howard Aamon Currie, 72 years old passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa after a lengthy fight with cancer. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on August 4, 1943. Freeman worked at the Provincial Hospital in Saint John, NB for many years prior to moving to Ontario. He worked at Offset Print and Litho before entering the health care field. He retired from St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, ON. Predeceased by his parents Dorothy (nee McLean) and Walter, and his brother Walter. Survived by his spouse Colleen Currie (Campbell) and his greatest joys in his life, his children Russell (London, ON), Christopher (Phoenix, AZ), Troy (Sherry) (Pickering, ON) and Cathy (Shawn) (Ajax, ON). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Jodi, Lindsey, Lex, Cooper, Michael, Candace, Madison and Kayla, and his great-grandchildren Brayden and Ryleigh. Loved by his brother Harry (Toronto, ON) and sisters Helen and Eva Currie (Saint John, NB) and his nephew Eddie. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public visitation. A memorial will be held in the spring at Erskine Cemetery in Pickering, Ontario. Donations in memory of Freeman can be made to the Supportive Care Unit at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, or the Easter Seal Society of Ontario. Online condolences may be left in the Guestbook above.
