Ivan Nicholson
December 10, 1927 - March 30, 2016
Ivan Nicholson
It is with sadness and grief that we announce the passing of Ivan Nicholson on March 30th after a long stay in hospital. Born in 1927 in Belfast Northern Ireland, Ivan came to Canada in 1957, and with his brother Richard had a long successful career working as a millwright. Although a life-long bachelor, he was an important part of a large extended family. He was “Uncle Ivan” to many nieces and nephews, and when you included their children, he was indeed a great uncle. The last four months have been extremely difficult for Ivan after surviving major surgery in late November. The staff at Toronto East General considered Ivan a favourite patient and often commented on his gentlemanly ways. He fought the good fight, but in the end, he was simply too tired and spent to go on. He lived a good life, and more importantly, he was good to others. Rest in peace Uncle Ivan.
