John (Ian) Beresford Craig
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on January 25th, 2016 at the age of 75. Survived by his son Neil (Natalie), brothers Andrew (Anne), Edward (Evelyn), James and Jack (Helen) and fondly remembered by Irene Craig. Ian will also be missed by his extended family, Debbie Watson (and her family), Sally Nedelkos, and his tablemates at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 606.
Ian’s apprenticeship at Stewart’s & Lloyd’s in Lanarkshire, Scotland led him to many different jobs including two years in the British Merchant Navy. He was a proud member of Local 46 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union and spent 15+ years in the pipe fabrication plant at OPG in Pickering before retiring.
Ian enjoyed many sports; darts, soccer and golf were his greatest passions. He taught himself to play the bagpipes and joined the Highland Creek Pipes and Drums in the 1980s. He was also an avid reader and delved into Freud, Jung, Tolstoy, Tolkien and many others. His week was not complete without spending Friday afternoons with his son Neil, often over a pint.
Ian’s family wishes to thank the caring staff in the ICU unit of the Rouge Valley Health Center in Ajax. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 606.
Online condolences may be left in the Guestbook above. (www.mceachniefuneral.ca)
