<div itemprop="description">Smith, Joyce Swinton (nee Cross)<br>With great sadness the children of Joyce Smith announce her passing on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Meaford General Hospital in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late Harry M. Smith. Daughter of the late George and Charlotte Cross. Predeceased by her siblings Allyn, Dorothy and Marjorie. Loving mother of Lynda and Art, Sharon and Wayne, Cindy and the late Ted, and David and Trish. Loving grandmother of the late Scott Gregory and survived by Cameron (Darlene), Erica, Lisa, Kerri (Tim), Katie (Brandon), Matt, Lesley (Isy), Douglas, Jordyn and Jocelyn. Loved great grandmother (GG) of Alison, William, Sarah and Connor. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Will be missed by all family pets, particularly Abby. Joyce was a long-time member of the United Church of Canada and currently a member of Grace United in Thornbury. Actively involved in the UCW, a Sunday School teacher, C.G.I.T. and Explorer leader and choir. A recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award. Joyce was actively involved in the Ajax community. Five years ago Joyce made a decision to move closer to family in Thornbury. She embraced the new community and enjoyed her many interests. The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax (Pickering Village), 905-428-8488, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 27th and on Wednesday, September 28th at Pickering Village United Church, 300 Church Street North, Ajax (Pickering Village) from 12 Noon to 2:00 pm with the funeral to immediately follow. The family would like to thank the staff at Meaford General Hospital and Dr. Naomi Klages for their exceptional care.
