Lionel Russell
June 30, 1923 - October 12, 2014
Lionel Russell
(Missionary to Uruguay and Spanish Ministries in Canada)
Received with joy into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on Sunday, October 12, 2014, with his family at his side. Beloved husband of the late Irene (nee Hamilton - 2011). Cherished father of Art (Lynn), Hazel (Thomas) Hnatko, Ken (Eunice), Rob (Cecilia), Phil (Debbie), and Phyllis (Julio) Espinosa. He was adored by 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren spread across Canada, the U.S. and Uruguay. He was uncle to many nieces and nephews across Canada and New Zealand. Lionel was predeceased by his sister Grace Burseth and Ronald Russell (New Zealand).
Lionel was adopted as Grandpa (Abuelo) by many who loved his warm and encouraging manner - many of whom, he was their spiritual father. He has left us with a wonderful heritage of faith, service and open-hearted love. May we as his family be found worthy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:
MSC Canada for the operations of the Camp Ministry which Lionel and Irene began in 1974.
