Jeanette Natasha Fleming
Sunrise, August 6, 1974 - Sunset, September 9, 2016

She was a miracle baby! Born with the odds of surviving stacked against her, she spent much of her early years in and out of hospitals but her joyful determination to prove the doctors wrong propelled her to not only survive but to thrive. She had an indomitable will to live!

Jeanette was a fun- loving person with a contagious laughter. She had optimism to spare and saw the silver lining behind every obstacle. She was not easily discouraged. Once she made up her mind it was onwards and upwards.

In 2003, Jeanette had the opportunity to move to Fort McMurray, Alberta with her young daughter Tatianna. It was there that she decided that she wanted to pursue her love of children by earning a Certificate in the Early Learning and Childcare program at Keyano College. She worked hard to balance her studies, to complete assignments and to make friends while raising her child. With perseverance and support she was successful becoming the first person in her close knit family to earn a college credential!

Jeanette was a firm believer in God and His goodness and never missed an opportunity to attend church at McMurray Gospel Assembly. She was focused and believed in setting goals and achieving them. While she was fiercely independent, she also was not afraid to ask for help from those she trusted. When she got her first job at a nearby preschool she was elated! She was warm, friendly and caring, her supervisors loved her! After two years she returned to Toronto and spent the next few years working in the childcare field back in Ontario.

Today we celebrate her life cut short suddenly but we are grateful for all that she was able to accomplish and for all the lives she touched. We celebrate God's grace in preserving her life as a baby and while we grieve, we grieve not without hope because we know that Jeanette has gone home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She is singing and laughing with the angels and caring for the little ones there.

Jeanette is survived by her loving husband Malcolm Ramdas, daughter Tatianna Newland, mother Jean Fleming and her partner Eric Eaton, her father Michael Fleming, sister Jamila Fleming, brother Justin Haywood, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In her memory, the Jeanette Fleming Memorial Award has been established to recognize a student entering the Early Learning and Childcare Certificate program who demonstrates Jeanette's determination to overcome obstacles to be enrolled in the program at Keyano College, Fort McMurray, Alberta.

We loved Jeanette. We know that she will always live on in our hearts!

Rest in Peace Jeanette!
