Pasqualina Gidari (nee Doria), 81
Pasqualina Gidari, Aged 81, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Rouge Valley Ajax Hospital and immediately entered Heaven’s gates. Pasqualina, lovingly known as Lina, was born on November 28, 1934, in San Vito Sullo Ionio, Italia, the daughter of the late Giuseppe Doria and Elisabetta Doria (Spano).
Pasqualina married Giovanni Gidari of Soverato, Italia in 1960 who predeceased her on March 25, 2000. They embarked on a journey together and moved to Switzerland in 1962 before making their journey across the Atlantic in 1964 to settle in Toronto, Canada to begin a life and start a legacy together. They surrounded themselves with family and friends and helped so many other new immigrants settle in Toronto. Their home was always filled with people and their table was always surrounded by loved ones.
Pasqualina is survived by her children Giuseppe (Gail) Gidari, Maria (David) Hammond and Elizabeth (Stephen) Jarrett; siblings Caterina Totino, Antonio (Immaculata) Doria, Domenico (Rosa) Doria, Vincenzina (Salvatore) Pitaro and Vito (Olga) Doria; six grandchildren Jonathan, Joshua, Justin and Jordan Hammond, Daniel and Michelle (Gidari); one step grandson Kevin Jarrett; two step great grandchildren Gavin and Makynli Yorke; numerous nieces and nephews who will forever be loved by her and lovingly remembered by them. She was preceded in death by her sister Rosina Piacente.
Pasqualina was a strong woman who’s faith in God, Jesus and the Virgin Mary gave her the strength to fight and endure to the very end. Her love and devotion to family came first, supported by her deep devotion to the Roman Catholic faith. She was a loving woman who will forever be remembered by so many for her kindness, generosity, sense of humour and infectious laugh. She had a heart of gold and there was no one that she would not help in their time of need. Everyone was always welcome to her home and no one would leave hungry or thirsty.
A consummate mother and homemaker, Pasqualina was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her extended and extensive family and friends. Her home was always filled with loved ones. She enjoyed watching her Italian programs and could be found providing live commentary which was enchanting to all. She loved gardening and with a green thumb there was nothing that she could not make flourish.
Pasqualina has had a profound impact on all the lives she touched, and will live on through those that she has left behind. Heaven has truly received an angel.

The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home 28 Old Kingston Road, Pickering Village (Ajax), 905-428-8488 on Monday August 22, 2016 from 1-3 p.m. and from 6-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday August 23 at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church (1001 Ravenscroft Road, Ajax) at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Highland Memory Gardens (33 Memory Gardens Lane, Willowdale).
